Pixelmon, a next-generation monster-collecting franchise, is collaborating with Avalanche to launch its flagship mobile game, Warden’s Ascent. The franchise, already active on the Ethereum blockchain, previously released Monster Tycoon, a battle arena game on the Immutable zkEVM blockchain. This new partnership aims to expand Pixelmon’s intellectual property and establish a dedicated Layer-1 chain for the game.
The flagship title is designed to bring Pixelmon’s gameplay, community-driven storytelling, and digital ownership to a global mobile audience. It will run on Avalanche’s high-performance blockchain infrastructure. With a mobile-first strategy, they seek to lead the monster-collecting genre for the next generation of mobile gamers.
Parker Heath, Ecosystem Growth Lead, Gaming at Ava Labs, said,
“Pixelmon’s expansion onto its own Avalanche L1 marks an exciting step forward for mobile gaming. By leveraging Avalanche’s powerful infrastructure, Pixelmon is able to create fast, fluid gameplay at scale, while giving players real ownership and a stake in the world they help shape.”
Warden’s Ascent: A New Benchmark in Monster-Collecting Games
Warden’s Ascent, the Pixelmon mobile game, transports players to the fantasy world of Nova Thera in a turn-based RPG adventure developed for iOS and Android. Players can discover, hatch, and evolve over 100 monsters, combining strategic gameplay, gacha mechanics, and competitive PvP features in the new mobile game.
Commenting on the Avalanche partnership, Giulio Xiloyannis, CEO of Pixelmon, said,
“By launching on Avalanche’s C-Chain, we’re able to bring blockchain features to players quickly and with minimal friction. As our needs evolve, we’ll seamlessly upgrade to our own Avalanche-based Layer 1—giving us the power to fully customize performance, costs, and gameplay without compromising the player experience.”
Pixelmon Mobile Game: Strengthening Avalanche’s Presence in APAC’s Booming Mobile Market
Avalanche also stands to strengthen its position in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region by tapping into Pixelmon’s established community in Asia. The APAC region is home to over half the world’s gamers and generates approximately 50% of global gaming revenue. Mobile gaming dominates key APAC markets—including Japan, South Korea, India, and Indonesia—offering fertile ground for Avalanche’s infrastructure and the game’s anime-inspired, mobile-first gameplay.
While elaborating on the recent partnership surrounding the Pixelmon mobile game, Heath added,
“This collaboration highlights Avalanche’s growing momentum in gaming, especially across Asia-Pacific, and reinforces our commitment to supporting the next generation of interactive franchises.”
Furthermore, Avalanche is building a strong presence in Web3 gaming overall. Paradise Chain recently launched its own Avalanche Layer 1 and titles like Off the Grid have brought in over 13 million players, while MapleStory Universe saw a 92% daily user engagement rate during closed testing and over 800,000 on-chain transactions in a single day. With Pixelmon now in the mix, Avalanche is expanding its gaming ecosystem even further—covering real-time gameplay, trading card systems, idle RPGs, and upcoming media like anime.
