FaenoraVerse is moving from concept to competition with the launch of its largest event yet, the Hunters of Faenora Alpha Hunt. The tournament carries a prize pool of more than 500,000 $MCHY tokens and draws in 250 entrants, including major guilds like Neo Tokyo, Superverse, Beacons.GG, Play Solana, and Portals.
The event follows a year of steady development on the FaenoraVerse, which is led by indie studio 2TG and shaped around two connected games. Wildlands of Faenora, the studio’s first release, delivers a narrative-focused tactical RPG experience. Its sister title, Hunters of Faenora, sharpens the design into a competitive roguelite where permadeath, NFTs, and tokenized progression are central.
In a recent interview with Juice Gaming News, CEO Nathan Montgomery said the aim has always been to balance nostalgia with modern design. “Growing up, my favorite games were Final Fantasy Tactics and Ogre Battle,” he explained. “We pivoted toward a pixel art roguelite tactics RPG embraced deep replayability, meaningful choices and the nostalgic charm of classic tactics RPG games.”
Hunters of Faenora is where the studio has leaned hardest into Web3 systems. Mercenaries, Villagers, and Heroes serve as NFT-based combatants that can be customized and traded, while the $MCHY token fuels recruitment, upgrades, and revival. In the Alpha Hunt format, each entrant begins with 75,000 $MCHY and elimination comes once the balance is depleted.
The prize structure has been ringing true to the studio’s emphasis on both scarcity and utility. The top eight finishers will secure Golden Tickets which will grant direct claims on Heroes. Ranks nine through fifty receive 20,000 $MCHY each, and the remainder of the field earn item bundles and whitelist access for upcoming releases.
Streaming is being integrated into the competition through a partnership with Sploot AI, which will clip and distribute standout runs across official channels. A companion contest offers USDC rewards to community creators who contribute tournament highlights.
For Montgomery, sustainability is the core challenge. He stressed that blockchain features are optional in Wildlands and emphasized that gameplay comes first. “We’re not here to force wallets or tokens onto players,” he said. “Our goal is simple: you should be able to open the game and start playing within 60 seconds – no wallet, no NFT, no friction.”
The Hunters of Faenora Alpha Hunt goes live tonight at 10PM PST at Faenora.World as the first large-scale test of the FaenoraVerse’s competitive model while development moves toward a broader rollout in 2025. A limited number of spots remain, with registration still open through the official Join the Hunt form.
