Forgotten Runiverse, the long-in-development MMO built around Web3 mechanics, is officially entering Global Early Access on March 26 at 10:00 a.m. ET. The free-to-play title introduces an open-world setting where players can explore, battle, and build on player-owned land, with progression tied into the game’s on-chain economy.
The launch follows over three years of development and multiple testing phases. Early Access brings the first major content update, Moonlit Wilds, along with the introduction of Quanta, the game’s primary in-game currency.
Players logging in during the launch window will be able to start earning Quanta through gameplay systems and claim portions of a 21 trillion Quanta airdrop, depending on their previous activity. Anyone who purchased or earned Mana—a separate in-game resource—from earlier events is eligible. Unclaimed allocations will be redistributed to active users by the claim deadline on May 7, 2025.
Mana can also be spent in the Font of Memory, a gacha-style system that offers rewards like Quanta, exclusive cosmetics, resource packs, and land plots. Those rewards are tied to in-game utility and ownership. Landowners, for example, will earn passive Quanta whenever other users interact with their plots.
At launch, Forgotten Runiverse offers six explorable regions as part of its growing open world: Hedge Wizard Encampment, Southern Thicket, Northern Thicket, The Wild, Azure Expanse, and the Moon Temple Region. The world is fully walkable, and the developers say it will eventually scale to over 100 zones—roughly double the size of Paris, in terms of in-game map area.
There are also 22 story quests available and five dungeons at launch, three of which are connected through a single storyline. Combat relies on spellcasting mechanics, with 32 spells unlocked through progression and a color-based magic system. Players can specialize into one of four schools, with more options planned for future updates.
In addition to the usual MMO content, land and building management is a core system. Players can claim plots directly through the Font of Memory or via a separate Scalebound Land Exchange, which runs through May 7. To qualify for a land claim through this event, a Scalebound Chest must remain in its original wallet and be sent to a designated address before the deadline. Successful claims will receive Homestead plots, which can host in-game buildings and offer gameplay advantages.
Available structures at launch include housing, resource gathering stations, crafting stations, fast travel hubs, and more. Landholders can develop their plots over time, and Forgotten Runiverse will eventually support larger communal buildings like Guild Halls and Mage Halls, according to the developers.
While the Forgotten Runiverse Early Access version contains core systems and the first wave of content, the development team describes this stage as a live foundation for ongoing iteration. Future additions are expected to include PvP zones, world bosses, raids, and expanded guild functionality. Players will also see more regions unlocked and new narrative content added over time.
The game’s blockchain integration will also expand post-launch. A Partner Token Event is planned for the weeks following Early Access, allowing players to redeem Quanta for external token rewards tied to other Web3 projects. The project has not yet named its first partner.
Forgotten Runiverse runs on a free-to-play model, with optional wallet connectivity. According to the team, player feedback during Early Access will be central to future updates, with plans to collect input through Discord, livestreams, and ongoing community events.
