Netherak Demons, a dark fantasy action RPG, is joining Somnia’s Dream Catalyst accelerator. The game centers around the ruined city of Imuran, where demon customization, tactical combat, and gear progression drive the experience. Core resources like fear, pain, and tears are extracted from enemies to craft weapons, unlock new zones, and push deeper into hostile territory.
What is Netherak Demons?
Developed by an independent team and backed by Web3 publisher Uprising Labs, the game will launch on PC with plans to expand to consoles. It blends tactical battles with blacksmithing, exploration, and resource conquest. Each player controls a demon that can be outfitted with armor sets and rare weapons, all of which evolve through skill trees. The game’s economy centers around dismantling enemy gear, crafting upgrades, and gaining access to hidden regions sealed for generations.
Cursed tomes, scattered throughout the world, unlock exclusive content and campaign chapters that deepen the lore of Imuran. As players progress, they gain access to forbidden zones, take on elite human champions, and trade gear in a player-run marketplace. Every item is on-chain—earned, minted, and tradable—making progression persistent and tied directly to player effort.
Netherak Demons follows a free-to-play model and will launch with full marketplace functionality. Gear, cosmetics, and crafted items will be tokenized from day one, with players forging their path through gameplay rather than microtransactions.
Built on Somnia Network
The game is being built on Somnia, a high-speed Layer-1 blockchain launched in 2024 by the Virtual Society Foundation. The chain is backed by Improbable, known for powering large-scale multiplayer games with SpatialOS. Somnia claims to process over 1 million transactions per second with sub-second finality and negligible fees. It’s EVM-compatible, supports omnichain protocols, and is optimized for real-time systems—games, metaverse platforms, and social networks among them.
Somnia Network has raised $270 million from backers including a16z, SoftBank, and Digital Currency Group. Dream Catalyst is one of several programs using that capital to support development pipelines.
“Netherak Demons brings a bold vision to on-chain gaming,” said Somnia founder Paul Thomas. “It’s a perfect example of how genre-defining experiences can be enhanced by blockchain in ways that go beyond asset ownership.”
Everything in-game is on-chain from day one. Weapons, armor, and cosmetics are minted and tradable. The marketplace connects directly to gameplay—there’s no storefront separate from the world. Nothing is abstracted. What’s earned can be sold or reforged. What’s lost can be harvested for parts.
A pre-launch campaign is already live through Somnia quests, offering early supporters a path into the ecosystem. Following Netherak Demons on X and joining the Discord unlocks campaign rewards and future updates. Completing tasks earns Somnia Points, which connect to early access perks and unlockables tied to progression. It’s a clean onboarding loop for those who want to get in early.
Netherak Demons is planned for PC first, with console support in the pipeline. The game can be wishlisted now on the Epic Games Store. Development updates, early access info, and campaign rewards are rolling out through Discord and X.
The game is moving forward with support from Dream Catalyst, with Uprising Labs handling publishing and Somnia providing the infrastructure. No launch window has been announced.
