WAGMI Games is back with more story to tell—and this time, they’re doubling down. Parts 2 and 3 of NiFe Wars: Melcrose Origins, the official comic for their flagship game WAGMI Defense, are now live on Webtoon, continuing the saga of Melcrose after her near-fatal run-in with the alien Gray Alliance.
For players who’ve been following the project since the anime teaser last year or jumped in through the game’s recent mobile release, these new episodes deepen the universe that WAGMI is building across media. WAGMI Defense itself is a free-to-play mobile strategy game where players build decks of collectible cards and battle in real-time PvP matches set in a futuristic war between humans and the alien Gray Alliance.
The new comic releases pick up after the cliffhanger ending of Part 1, with Melcrose rebuilt following brutal alien experimentation—cybernetic, scarred, and no longer the soldier she once was. As the resistance works to understand what’s been done to her, glimpses of Emperor Melek Taus reveal growing tensions within the human ranks.
NiFe Wars Comics as Canon
WAGMI’s comic is just as canonical as the game. Part of the studio’s wider strategy is to turn WAGMI Defense into more than a PvP battler as a sci-fi property with an expanding narrative footprint, where characters you unlock in-game have histories you can read, watch, or soon cosplay.
The company previously referenced that approach is what helped define franchises like Halo and Destiny and they are applying a similar transmedia playbook, but with Web3-native infrastructure. That includes NFT characters, tokenized collectibles, and blockchain-based progression systems—all feeding into the same world.
The comic is co-developed with veterans from the traditional comics industry, including artists and writers with ties to Marvel and DC. While only three episodes are out so far, WAGMI Games has hinted that a full arc is in production, and potentially a pitch to streaming platforms for a complete animated series.
The NiFe Wars comic is available now on Webtoon, with new episodes dropping regularly. Both the game WAGMI Defense game and the comic are at the perfect entry point, whether you’re just discovering WAGMI or diving back in. Now’s the time to catch up before the next chapter drops.
