During Juice Gaming News’ attendance at the Avalanche Summit 2024 in Argentina, the Providence team outlined their upcoming free-to-play survival action game. Providence is designed as a multiplayer co-op experience that combines third-person shooting with RPG and rogue-like elements, all set within a resource-driven survival world.
The developers explained their broader vision for the project, stating that blockchain gaming is poised to reshape the industry within the next two to three years, similar to how free-to-play mobile titles expanded in the 2010s. They said their long-term focus is on player ownership of both stories and intellectual property generated within the game. Providence is structured as a free-to-play experience without microtransactions, where all in-game assets are fully owned by players.
The team also described the early framework of the game’s economy. They confirmed that every resource, blueprint, weapon, armor piece, consumable, and deployable will have a presence onchain. Players will collect and craft these items as they progress, forming an economy that is anchored in blockchain and shaped directly by player activity.
Providence is preparing for an Early Access launch in December 2024, with invitations for players to join as Trailblazers and help influence development during its initial stages. The team noted that additional announcements are scheduled for the next two months as momentum builds toward the game’s release.
