Quick Take
- Somnia Builder lets teams deploy onchain games with minimal code or infrastructure
- Powered by Somnia’s high-throughput L1 and Sequence’s modular web3 stack
- Already used in games backed by Dream Catalyst’s $10M accelerator
Somnia has launched a new development tool called Somnia Builder, aimed at lowering the barrier for developers building onchain games and applications. The platform was created in collaboration with infrastructure partner Sequence and is already being used by several upcoming titles, including Sparkball, Netherak Demons, Maelstrom, and Masks of the Void.
The tool offers a low-code interface for packaging assets, configuring logic, and deploying to chain, without requiring developers to write custom smart contracts or manage backend infrastructure. It’s designed for real-time, user-owned environments where interactions are stored directly onchain.
Web3 Stack With Speed and Scale
Somnia Builder runs on Somnia, a Layer 1 blockchain built for scale. Its public testnet, Shannon, has already processed over a billion transactions and supports over a million per second with sub-second finality. Sequence provides the backend infrastructure for the Builder, including embedded wallets, smart contract blueprints, gasless relayers, indexers, and full SDK support for Unity, Unreal, TypeScript, and React Native.
Developers using the tool can launch tokenized assets, integrate wallet functionality, and access real-time analytics on player behavior and game performance from a single dashboard.
“Making web3 easier is a key part of the Somnia vision, and that includes developers,” said Somnia founder Paul Thomas. “Sequence shares our focus on accessibility, and their new Somnia Builder will go a long way toward helping more builders get started.”
Early Adoption and Ecosystem Growth
Somnia Builder is already part of the Dream Catalyst program, a $10 million game accelerator run by Somnia and Uprising Labs. Multiple funded games are using the platform to fast-track their builds with fewer technical hurdles.
“Somnia Builder represents a major leap forward for onchain development,” said Sam Barberie, Head of Strategy and Partnerships at Sequence. “This is the kind of infrastructure shift that enables real-time, user-owned games and metaverse environments to scale seamlessly.”
Somnia and Sequence are also partnered with Google Cloud for enterprise-grade infrastructure, including scalability and security services.
Developers can start building immediately through the official site. Documentation, tutorials, and support channels are live.
