Quick Take
- Spekter Agency enters open beta with new systems, gear, and stage-based rewards
- All player data resets, but Sparks balances and new 2,500 welcome bonus remain
- Spekter Games raised $5M pre-seed from a16z, Speedrun, and LVP to expand superapp-native gaming
Spekter Agency, a roguelite arcade shooter playable directly inside Telegram, has launched into open beta with expanded progression systems, new referral mechanics, and persistent account-level growth. The update comes alongside a $5 million pre-seed funding round led by a16z Speedrun, with participation from London Venture Partners, BRV Capital, and several other early-stage investors.
The game, developed by Spekter Games, draws inspiration from Vampire Survivors and runs natively on Telegram through Mini Apps. It allows players to jump in instantly with no downloads or wallets required. Gameplay centers around wave survival, loot collection, and character build customization.
The open beta introduces several core updates. Spark Core 2.0 increases the daily earning potential for Sparks, the game’s in-app reward points, based on stage progression. Players now advance up to Stage 50, earning more Sparks per clear as difficulty scales. Spark Link 2.0 enhances referral-based rewards, granting both players Sparks when referred users reach specific milestones.
Item and gear systems are now live, bringing RPG-style progression into the mix. Players can collect equipment ranging from Common to Legendary, upgrade them with in-game resources, and assign gear to build out strategic loadouts. A full inventory system supports multi-slot management for weapons, armor, and accessories.
Accounts start with 2,500 Sparks as part of the open beta launch. While all gameplay data was reset after alpha, all balances and referral rewards carry forward. Progression is now permanent.
The $5M raise will support Spekter’s plan to expand beyond Telegram into additional superapps and traditional mobile storefronts such as Google Play and the App Store. According to CEO Taehoon Kim, formerly of nWay and Animoca Brands, the goal is to combine addictive gameplay with passive, optional Web3 systems that enhance retention.
“Web3 incentives can supercharge virality, but they should never get in the way of fun,” said Kim. “We’re focused on making games people love to play, not just earn from.”
