Quick Take
- Ubisoft integrates AI agents into blockchain game Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E.
- Agents make governance decisions using NFT traits and on-chain memory
- Players can override agents or let them act independently when inactive
Ubisoft has introduced a new governance mechanic into Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E., a blockchain-based multiplayer shooter set in the same universe as Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, the Netflix animated series. The feature enables AI agents tied to NFT characters to participate in the game’s decision-making processes by analyzing proposals and voting autonomously.
Each Niji Warrior NFT now has a corresponding AI agent, created in partnership with decentralized AI infrastructure provider LibertAI. These agents are configured with behavioral traits based on NFT metadata, such as values, roles, and background. They can act on behalf of players during governance events, with all actions and memory logs stored via Aleph Cloud for on-chain transparency.
Ubisoft presented the update at Ethereum Community Conference (ETHCC) in Paris. The company confirmed that while players retain full control and can choose to vote manually, the AI system is designed to operate autonomously when players are inactive. Agents use data stored in ERC-6551 token-bound wallets to recall past actions and inform future decisions.
Governance actions take place within Eden Online, the game’s Web3 companion layer. The platform enables players to propose and vote on gameplay updates, item distributions, and story elements. AI agents can now carry out these functions using a decision-making framework shaped by each NFT’s predefined persona.
Ubisoft also said the agents are restricted to individual accounts and cannot interact with or affect other users directly. Memory states and decision histories are recorded on-chain to allow users to audit how their agent behaves.
The next phase of the system will include a text-based interface to support governance events across the player base. This feature is scheduled to go live in July and will continue using the existing NFT ID infrastructure.
Ubisoft has previously released a limited supply of 10,000 Niji Warrior ID NFTs. Each one functions as a player’s access credential to Eden Online and tracks in-game achievements, ranks, and governance actions.
All agent activity remains tied to individual accounts, with memory states updated during gameplay and participation. Players can override AI agent decisions at any time or allow the agent to act independently based on its profile.
The company plans to link combat performance with governance behavior in future updates, creating a progression system that reflects both gameplay and decision-making.
Ubisoft confirmed that the feature does not include generative text or open-ended AI content. Agent actions are limited to predefined logic structures and memory-driven behavior. This ensures that AI interactions remain contained within the governance system.
The company continues to support the title through additional updates to Eden Online and the main gameplay loop. The feature is live for NFT holders and will expand alongside new game mechanics through upcoming seasonal updates.
