The game studio behind Assassin’s Creed, Ubisoft has announced the launch of its first blockchain game. Aside from Assassin’s Creed, this gaming studio is responsible for other engaging franchises like Far Cry, Prince Of Persia, Tom, Clancy’s, and Watch Dogs among many others.
Having performed excellently in the traditional web2 industry, Ubisoft has declared its entry into the web3 gaming sphere. The gaming studio has decided to step up in its game despite its ongoing exploit at revamping Assassin’s Creed into two fresh titles: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Assassin’s Creed Infinity.
Ubisoft has unveiled Champions Tactics as its latest web3 game title. During the game announcement, the 42-second video showcased some attractive graphics. However, it failed to feature any gameplay regarding Ubisoft’s web3 title.
What is Champion Tactics?
Champion Tactics is a PvP tactical RPG experimental game. The game is currently being developed by Ubisoft with the intention to attract many traditional gamers. In fact, the gaming studio used the word “experimental” instead of “blockchain, ” preventing web2 gamers from shaming away from the game. Within a short period, most members of the traditional gaming community have depicted their distaste for Ubisoft’s new venture.
The new web3 game will be hosted on Oasys blockchain, a chain developed for gamers to enjoy instant transaction speed and zero gas fees. Oasys has also signed a long-term partnership with Square Enix, SEGA, and Bandai Namco. These companies have joined the leagues of AAA gaming studios exploring the web3 ecosystem. While Square Enix unveiled “SYMBIOGENESIS”, SEGA released “Battle of Three Kingdoms”.
Ubisoft Continues Blockchain Adventure
In May 2023, Ubisoft positioned itself as a web3 frontier by introducing Assassin’s Creed smart collectibles and launching Rabbid digital collectibles on the Reddit marketplace.
