The developers of an Axie Infinity community-made game for Axie lovers, Sky Smash have made the first official announcement regarding the game. Sky Smash has been designed to be a multiplayer, turn-based tactical artillery game where players can control their own Axies and smash other Axies with powerful artillery weapons. These weapons are gotten from Axie parts.
Before the official announcement, the team teased many players about what the game entails. Players were given a poll to choose what Sky Smash was either it was an Axie Space Fighter game, a Gunbound in Lunacia, Worms but with Axies, or Super Smash Bros for Axie. During the announcement, the team explained that Sky Smash was inspired by the classic Worm game from Team17 and the enigmatic Gunbound game from Softnyx. However, there is a modern twist in the combination.
Sky Smash Gameplay
Sky Smash banks on the possibility of web3 and the magical world of Lunacia provided by the Axie Builders Program. Players can bring their Axies to battles, level them up, and collect rare equipment and potions to smash their opponents into oblivion. The game is easy to play and mobile-friendly; players can easily swipe and adjust the angle to fire with their weapons. Weapons can be gotten from any of the three parts (Horn, Mouth, and Tail) of the Axie. However, some parts require adept skills to pull off.
Sky Smash has several multiplayer modes across all platforms: 1v1, 2v2, and even 4v4 (for groups with adequate BLOODLUST). Players can invite their friends to play the game.
The game is quite far from an official launch, but there could be a Closed Alpha Test. The team is looking forward to accommodating some axie enthusiasts to dive for the playtest. Interested participants are expected to complete a short form, sharing their favorite axie. The selected participants would be sent Discord invitations. Sky Smash appreciates the community support and publicity from top content creators.
