MapleStory, a renowned game from Nexon, Korea’s largest game studio, has announced its upcoming migration of its Web3-enhanced extension to Avalanche, a future-proof blockchain platform. The game plans to establish its own subnet on Avalanche.
MapleStory has been revolutionary since replacing MMOs’ subscriptions with a free-to-play model. MapleStory N will be the first game within the web3-enabled MapleStory Universe.
The extension on Avalanche will offer new user-generated content possibilities, enhancing standards. Players can build worlds and receive rewards. The growth of MapleStory might surge due to Web3 ownership and incentives. Additionally, players can enjoy expanded gameplay and contribute to the MapleStory Universe.
MapleStory aims to attract Web2 gamers to its Avalanche platform with custom features. This move adds to the list of web2 gaming companies transitioning to Web3, including Gunzilla, Shrapnel, TSM, Merit Circle, Pegaxy, DOS Subnet, among others.
Angela Son, MapleStory Universe’s Partnership Lead, stated, “Our partnership with Ava Labs will enable us to build a stable blockchain ecosystem, enhancing our competitiveness.”
Ed Chang, Head of Gaming at Ava Labs, commented, “I can’t imagine a bigger opportunity in Web3 than what the Nexon Group is doing with MapleStory Universe, and we’re honored to power its next blockchain project with Avalanche.”
