Splinterlands, a blockchain-backed trading card game, has announced an expansion for the Secret of Praetoria in Phase 1.5. The developers plan to release this expansion on Tuesday, November 14. In the initial phase earlier this year, players with land claim tokens could redeem them for land plot NFTs, scattered across specific locations on the continent of Praetoria. Surveys allowed players to uncover details such as terrain type, rarity, and available resources.
Developments in Phase 1. 5
In Phase 1.5, players can stake DEC tokens and worker cards on their land plots. This enables them to produce a subset of resources within Praetoria and offers an opportunity to conduct research and unlock the Secret of Praetoria. This phase consists of 150 distinct player-owned land regions, each containing 1,000 land plots, totaling 150,000 player-owned land plots.
Before the initial release, new features will be introduced, including:
- An internal grain/DEC market
- Unlocking Soulbound Cards for use on land
- Totem Fragment Combining
- Prefix Titles
- DEC Rentals Market
- Card Rentals for Land
- Land “Surfing”
Phase 1.5 will serve as an interim phase for players to experiment with land and resource management. Following this, Splinterlands plans to launch Phase 2 next year, which will feature over 30 types of buildings and more than 50 types of resources. The experiences in Phase 2 are expected to form an intricate and interconnected system for crafting items and spell cards in preparation for Phase 3.
Splinterlands is committed to releasing the first draft of the Phase 2 whitepaper as an educational resource for players looking to explore the upcoming session.
