Quick Take
- Aavegotchi freezes all Polygon contracts and migrates NFTs and GHST to Base
- No user action required for most holders; assets mirrored via snapshot
- Gotchi Guardians now live on Steam with full Base integration and $GHST support
Aavegotchi has completed its migration from Polygon to Base, officially ending support for its original deployment. The transition includes smart contract freezes on Polygon and a full asset transfer, with Aavegotchis, wearables, and verified NFTs now live on Base.
All eligible tokens were mirrored through a snapshot and minting process. Assets can be viewed via wallet or through OpenSea and the Aavegotchi website. Contracts on Polygon remain visible but are non-transferable.
The team cited Ethereum alignment, infrastructure maturity, and native Base features as reasons for the move. Governance activity through AavegotchiDAO is also shifting to Base, and future proposals will only support GHST on that chain.
Gotchiverse REALM parcels and in-game currencies like Alchemica and GLTR will migrate later, following additional testing.
The migration follows the July Steam release of Gotchi Guardians, a multiplayer tower defense game from Pixelcraft Studios. The game features Base-native $GHST payments, seasonal leaderboard rewards, and Aavegotchi NFT skin integration. It is scheduled for full release in Q3 2025.

What Is Aavegotchi?
Aavegotchi is a DeFi-enabled NFT protocol founded in 2020. Each avatar is backed by staked interest-bearing tokens from Aave, and rarity is determined by traits, wearables, and interaction history. Players can level up Gotchis, earn GHST through rarity farming, and vote via AavegotchiDAO.
