Quick Take
- Common OTG nodes now resell for $700–900, down from $2,000
- $GUN token is down 76% since TGE; delays in marketplace access cited
- Rewards tied to gameplay activity, not token locks — resale commissions still pending
OTG Node Prices Drop as Token Pressure Mounts
Off The Grid’s (OTG) validator node market is under pressure. Prices have dropped sharply across all tiers, with over-the-counter sales showing discounts between 30% and 60% from original mint prices. The sudden correction comes after months of slow secondary trading and confusion around how node rewards actually work. A dynamic that long-time crypto gaming creator CryptoStache says is driving premature panic.
Common nodes that once sold for $2,000 are now changing hands for as low as $700. Rare nodes are trading closer to $2,500, down from $5,000. Only the Epic tier has held close to its mint value, sitting between $18,000 and $20,000. Legendary node sales remain largely unreported.
What’s Driving the Drop?
The downturn started shortly after the $GUN token’s Token Generation Event. Since then, $GUN has dropped roughly 76% from its post-TGE peak, falling from a $65 million market cap to around $22 million. Volume is thinning as well. Recent data shows most trades are concentrated on a single exchange.
Node holders, especially early buyers, are interpreting the token’s decline as a signal that node rewards may be permanently underwhelming.
These concerns aren’t new. OTG’s node economy and payout issues were already under scrutiny earlier this year.
According to CryptoStache, this is a flawed assumption. He points out that the 50,000 $GUN tokens held in each node are not rewards, they’re gas reserves used to operate node functions. The actual rewards are tied to player activity and resales.
“You get rewards from decoding hexes,” Stache wrote, “but the real ‘X’ factor is resale rewards, which people seem to forget.”
The larger issue may be timing. There was a notable lag between the token launch and the release of 3rd-party marketplace integration. That delay made it harder for holders to resell or gauge the actual value of their nodes. The OpenSea rollout is only now underway, several months after the TGE. According to Stache, if the integration had launched sooner, much of the recent sell-off might have been avoided.
Marketplace Uptick But User Metrics Unclear
Recent reports from DappRadar and other trackers show renewed marketplace activity. The OTG ecosystem recorded nearly 50,000 sales in 30 days, totaling over 12 million $GUN in value (about $307,000). Around 3,800 unique traders participated. Still, only about 21,000 users have completed the migration to mainnet so far.
While trading volume is climbing, active user numbers remain a question mark. As reported by Gam3sgg, the GUNZ network shows over 691 million lifetime transactions and 17.3 million wallets connected, but it’s unclear how many of those represent real players versus idle wallets. Previous projects in Web3, like Pixels, have shown that wallet metrics often overstate actual engagement.

What Comes Next?
Gunzilla says rewards will scale as more players migrate and begin decoding in-game content. Until then, node holders may need to wait out the dip. With Off The Grid’s full launch and Steam release approaching, the team is expected to ramp up marketing, improve liquidity access, and roll out resale rewards.
Whether that’s enough to restore node values remains to be seen. For now, prices remain low, volatility is high. Beyond wallet connection metrics, the ecosystem’s next move may hinge on how well the game converts players into sustained activity.
What Is Off The Grid?
Off The Grid is a free-to-play, cyberpunk battle royale developed by Gunzilla Games and built on the Avalanche blockchain. It blends traditional shooter mechanics with a player-owned economy powered by the GUNZ token. Players earn rewards through gameplay and node-based systems, while participating in a marketplace that includes NFTs, skins, and validator nodes. Directed by Neill Blomkamp, the game features PvP and PvE missions across a persistent open world and is currently in early access ahead of a full release on Steam.
