Onchain game studio and technology company, Proof of Play has secured a seed round of $33m from venture capitalists, angel investors, and founders. Top venture capital companies; a16z and Greenoaks Capitals hugely contributed to the amount generated.
The seed funding also included top angel investors and founders including Balaji Srinivasan (former CTO of Coinbase), Diogo Mónica (CEO of Anchorage Digital), Justin Kan (Founder of Twitch), and Justin Waldron (co-founder of Zynga, CEO of PlayCo). Other participants are Nikil Viswanathan (CEO of Alchemy), Immad Akhund (Founder of Mercury), Gabby Dizon (CEO of YGG), and Naval Ravikant (co-founder of AngelList). Numerous other individuals also participated in the funding anonymously.
PirateNation NFT: Proof of Play’s First Game
Proof of Play is currently building its first game, PirateNation NFT, an RPG filled with high-seas adventure, treasure, fantastic creatures, and unexpected surprises. The company plans to use the funds generated to develop uncompromising, fun-filled, and accessible on-chain games, believing that players prioritize enjoyment and ease of play. Players interested in playing PirateNation NFT can join the waitlist in anticipation. However, the game is live in a beta session.
To keep the dream alive, Proof of Play has employed the service of top gaming veterans namely Chris Dixon of a16z Crypto, Josh Lu of a16z Games, and Emmett Shear, the co-founder and former CEO of Twitch.
