Manila, Philippines — November 20, 2025
The YGG Play Summit hosted the tournament debut of Ubisoft’s new digital trading card game (TCG), Might & Magic: Fates, on the Summit’s Arena stage. The invitational event featured eight contenders, with YGG Esports player Tyler clinching the win against Web3 gaming content creator Archer Perez.
Tyler has nine years of TCG experience and was invited based on his success across several games, including Hearthstone, where he earned over US$100,000 in tournament winnings. For the event, Tyler and many of his fellow competitors, including co-finalist Archer Perez, built Haven decks due to the faction’s wealth of defensive units and spells. The invitational brought together leading content creators, including Hearthstone pros CaraCute and Staz, YGG Esports members Feno and spamandrice, and creators Een Mercado and Miguel Gonzales, also known as VMG.
The tournament used a single-elimination format, with best-of-1 quarterfinals and best-of-3 semi-finals and finals. Players were allowed to construct custom card decks or play with the pre-built decks available in the game. Out of the US$5,000 prize pool, US$1,500 was awarded to Tyler.

“We believe that building a great TCG starts with creating a fresh experience, driven by innovative and deep game mechanics that still feel familiar and welcoming to long-time fans of the genre,” said Sylvain Loe Mie, Executive Producer at Ubisoft, who presented the first-place prize to Tyler onstage following the event.
“We have strong ambitions for the esports future of Might & Magic: Fates, and we’re incredibly happy to host this first tournament here in Manila during the YGG Play Summit. This event is an important testing ground to explore the game’s competitive potential with real professional players and high-level competitors. Their feedback, energy, and mastery of the game have given us valuable insights and confirmed that the competitive depth we’re aiming for truly resonates. We hope this becomes the first of many tournaments as we continue to develop Fates into a fun esport experience for TCG players around the world.”
Might & Magic: Fates is set in a convergence of fractured worlds and timelines, where heroes and monsters confront each other before reality collapses. In each match, players must work to defeat the opponent’s hero, using cards that generate resources and summon allies to fight on the hero’s side. The game has been compared to iconic TCGs such as Hearthstone and Magic: The Gathering.
“The YGG Play Summit continues to prove itself as the heart of competitive Web3 gaming,” said Mike Ovecka, Head of Esports at YGG. “The energy around our tournaments this year speaks for itself, and having a major publisher like Ubisoft showcase a new title at the Summit further validates Web3 esports as a high-impact segment of the broader gaming ecosystem.”
Earlier in the day, the Summit’s Town Hall conference stage featured talks from Web3 gaming leaders from the Philippines and around the world, including Oliver Maroney of OpenSea, Jihoz of Sky Mavis, Theodore Agranat of Gunzilla Games, and Luke Barwikowski of Pixels. Meanwhile, beyond the tournament stage of The Arena, the Summit’s City of Play hosts a major expo across its three other districts. The Player District focuses on the biggest Web3 games, the Skill District on upskilling opportunities for the digital economy, and the Degen District on the emerging Casual Degen genre for crypto-native gamers.
Other tournaments will take place over the next two days: the US$100,000 YGG Parallel Showdown and the US$20,000 Vibes Asian Championship. The annual GAM3 Awards also returns to the Summit on November 21, where a new Game of the Year will be crowned. For attendees seeking career growth, the City of Play’s Skill District offers live learning sessions, including the November 22 Prompt to Prototype workshop, which will teach attendees how to use AI-powered, no-code tools to develop playable game prototypes.
