How to Earn in Calamity Pre-Season
Calamity’s Pre-Season introduces its first live play-to-earn system, giving players real-time access to a functioning in-game economy. With Gold tied to a fixed value and daily rewards distributed through the Wyrm Tribute pool, every decision from dungeon clears to city trades affects your earning potential.
Following its migration to Ronin, Calamity overhauled its infrastructure, introducing artifact-based NFT upgrades, smart contract-backed rewards, and a multi-season rollout. Pre-Season marks the start of this new chapter, with fixed-value earning, staking systems, and social gameplay that ties directly into a long-term token economy.
Here’s how players can start earning in Calamity right now.
1. Wyrm Tribute: Daily Dungeon Rewards
Gold is the core of Calamity’s economy. During Pre-Season, players earn Gold through the Wyrm Tribute system by clearing dungeons. Only players with a $20 Season Pass are eligible to participate.
Each day, dungeon players earn Wyrm Shards based on difficulty completed. The total Wyrm Shards earned across the player base are used to calculate daily Gold distribution from the Wyrm Tribute pool.
- Gold is distributed proportionally based on Wyrm Shards
- The Gold-to-USD rate is fixed: 100 Gold = 1 dollar
- Dungeon time is capped at one hour per day
- Additional dungeon hours can be purchased using Gold
The pool itself grows through player activity. Each Season Pass mints 2000 Gold, with 1800 going into the Tribute pool and 200 directly to the player. Gold spent on features like extra dungeon runs or NFTs also feeds the pool.
2. Leaderboards: Valor, Fame and Guild Rankings
Calamity’s Pre-Season introduces three active leaderboards that track different forms of player progression. Each one offers distinct reward pathways.
- Valor Leaderboard – Tracks Wyrm Shards earned from dungeons. Players earn more by running high-difficulty dungeons and using boosters like Dragon Rings or referral codes.
- Fame Leaderboard – Reflects referral impact. Each player has a code that others can enter. The referred player gets a bonus, and the referrer gains Fame points as quests are completed.
- Guild Leaderboard – Ranks top guilds based on the combined Valor Points of their members. Guild coordination becomes essential for prize qualification.
Boosts include:
- Season Pass activation
- Dragon Ring artifact multipliers
- Referral code bonuses
These leaderboards refresh consistently throughout Pre-Season and feed into token and NFT reward distributions.
3. City Activities: Duels, Dice and Trade
Outside of dungeons, Calamity’s city hub allows for strategic and social earning systems. Gold can be spent or wagered across several features:
- Duels with tokens at stake
- Dice games that risk Gold for random rewards
- Auction House trading for items, boosts and cosmetics
- [REDACTED] mechanics that add city-based minigames to the economy
Players can also optimize their builds by interacting with NPCs or adjusting their skill setups for dungeon efficiency.
All Gold spent through these systems is looped back into the reward structure. No funds exit the ecosystem without value return.
4. Factory NFTs: Gateway to $WYRM and Passive Income
Calamity introduces 9,999 Factory NFTs, which serve as the exclusive access point to the in-game $WYRM token. Each Factory functions as a personal in-game apartment with economic utility and token yield.
- Each Factory receives 1,650 $WYRM (30%) at TGE
- An additional 3,850 $WYRM (70%) is earned through staking over a 3-month period
- If fully minted, Factories account for 5.5% of total $WYRM supply
Staking & Merging Mechanics
Factory NFTs can be staked to earn $WYRM. Staking rewards are determined by the total number and tier of Factories in the pool. Players can merge three same-tier Factories to create one higher-tier Factory, boosting both yield and in-game utility.
- Each merge increases staking power (up to +74% at Tier 5)
- Merging reduces total supply, adding scarcity and long-term value
Factory Utility Systems
Beyond staking, Factories unlock several gameplay layers:
- Expeditions: Passive dungeons that reward Factory owners; extra Factories earn a share of paid runs
- Automatas: Robotic units (coming in future Seasons) that generate crafting resources; higher-tier Factories support more Automatas
- Apartment Expansion: Higher tiers unlock more in-game features and upgrade potential
Factories are central to Calamity’s monetized seasonal loop, integrating token yield with Web2-style gameplay systems like lootboxes, premium shops, and high-stakes minigames.
5. Final Gold Balance and Cash-Out
Once Pre-Season ends, players can visit the Calamity dApp to claim their Gold balance as onchain assets. The payout honors the fixed Gold rate and reflects total balance across dungeons, city systems and leaderboard bonuses.
- Gold cannot be printed through gameplay
- Gold must be purchased or earned
- Unspent Gold carries over into final rewards
- NFTs earned can also carry forward to future seasons
The Season Pass is required for participation in most reward mechanics, including Wyrm Tribute and leaderboard tracking.
